  • Carbon Dating and Calendar Years

I am having some difficulty understanding carbon dating and calendar years, and how the two are related and utilized in our understanding of archaeology,

Does anyone have an article that they can refer me to that will explain the difference and relationship between the two?

    Thanks

Good question David. In recent years I have seen carbon dating with a very narrow range. I believe the science has gotten a lot better results in recent years.

well regarding BP , it means 'Before Present' and the year that is used to calibrate from is, in the Gregorian Calendar (which is the calendar we use in the U.S. of A.) the year 1950 AD or CE. so you can calculate off that and it's not too hard to get comfortable with the differences
