Assuming banners or gorgets are found in your area, you could come across them wherever you are finding any artifact. Be careful with the digging. Make sure you have the proper permission. I'm not suggesting you don't already know this, but since you're relatively new at the hobby, I thought I would throw it out. Just keep looking. You never know when a dream will come true.

I don't think there are many banner stones in my area, but I could be wrong.

Hey J, Good luck in your search. Your dream items are quite rare. Hope you find them. My Grandfather's name was Finch.

You do indeed have a rare finds wish list. I find that the harder I look, the less I find. Sounds like you have some pristine sites on 80A. Enjoy the journey as much as the finds.

I don't know about the "tomahawk" part of your wish list but I do know of a nice 3/4 groove ax and several points found by a friend who was logging in Marion Co. near Hamilton, AL in the late 80's. I grew up hunting in N. Alabama . . . Tennessee River, Lauderdale, Colbert, Franklin counties mostly . . . everything on your wish-list can certainly be found that area. I've never found an intact gorget or banner stone myself but have found five broken gorgets and two broken banner stones . . .one banner stone and two of the gorgets came from Seven Mile Island, one from the mouth of Coffee Slough and one from the big site at the mouth of Cyprus Creek (one each from TN) . . . of course hunting all those sites is now prohibited as all owned by the TVA or state and require written permission to hunt. There are a lot of rock shelters and caves south of the river (Colbert,Franklin counties) that were occupied by Native Americans from the Paleo period onward. Possibly you have something like that on your 80 acres? Either way . . . creek/river, field, shelter, anywhere in that part of the country, if you've got running water, odds are you have a site nearby. Finding one (or all) of those items may be like hitting the lottery . . . but like the lottery, you can't win if you aren't playing so keep on hunting . . . those pieces are out there waiting for you to rescue them.
