  • A few NC teeth

My 2 daughters had a teacher work day recently so we took a ferry across the river to Aurora, and visited the fossil museum. They have a spoil pile where kids and rockhounds get to dig through and keep the finds. THe pile is screened before they dump it so you won't find anything too big like a 6 inch megladon tooth. But there are lots of small teeth and, hey, I found my best one ever. The larger black one is a megladon!! And the skinny a mako. I was so pumped to find these, I think they are great finds.

Nice fossil teeth. The color difference is caused by the sediment that encased the dentin.

I hope that you don't mind but I was afraid that one of those cute kids of yours was going to fall overboard so I turned the boat right side up. Click image for larger version
