They're all sharp enough that I'm tempted to try them out! [but I won't]

Those are fine pieces. That gouge is the bomb.

The smaller celt and gouge appear to be a local hardstone, possibly diabase, or a solid color slate for the gouge. Which is a fine example! The other is a wood working adze, and the shallow groove is intentional. This tool was used to carve something that was supposed to be round, like pegs or wooden handles. That's pure guess work, it's hard to say what they were used on, only what they were used for. But your correct, all woodworking tools! The adze is either diorite or granite. Those are very similar, diorite being a little harder and denser, and granite having more quartz inclusions. I would say diorite.

Those are some real dandy tools you have there. Just curious if they are all personal finds? And when you say southern Ontario, what general area are you talking about---the whole southern half? If so, that incorporates an area larger than New York and Pennsylvania combined. Could you narrow it down a bit closer for us?

These are from a collection I got at a gun auction, there is a post about it in "what did I find" most of the items came from along the grand river in the Caledonia area, though some of the items were not labeled so I can't know for sure on those. But the gouge and the larger adze are labeled.
