Whats this stuff?

Found on a lake Erie beach...the rectangular piece seems fairly modern not sure about the other...anyone see anything like this?

Look like chunks of tile or brick. I find similar stuff on the south shores of Lake Michigan.

The piece on the left looks like it has temper, and could be a water worn piece of pottery. The other does look like a broken piece of tile off of something more modern.

Looks like the piece on the left could be a piece of pottery. Can't tell for sure.
