On a recent hunt on a bright, hot, sunny day this rock jumped out at me. It looks to be a quartz. The glitter caught my eye. Anyone ever run across these. I'm sure ya have.

It looks like a porphyritic granite or granitoid. Within the quartz matrix, the platy glittery crystals that caught your eye are probably mica (or biotite) and the elongated black crystals are probably plagioclase feldspar.I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who. -
