  • Kentucky point questions

Given to me by a client. They were found in a farm in kentucky in the 20s. Does anyone know the type and age of these? Is the object on top a scraper?

The object on top might be a square knife:

Ryan, those are flat-out fantastic examples! Great materials too. Here's one from Kansas, don't know the material. Charlie http://vb5.arrowheads.com/media/ku

Is there any way you could take pics of those pieces in outdoor light?

Show the backside of them. Then we can better decide between scrapers and knives. You have some cool artifacts.

Welcome from east Tn! (Formerly from east Ky)

Those are some pretty cool finds. As others said better photos in natural lighting and a couple angles/ sides help when trying to accurately determine types/age.

The square shaped piece could be a square knife like Charlie (cmd) mentioned but I would like to see a sideshot that shows thickness to help rule out alternate possibilities like scraper, chipped adze or reworked blade...
The other large blade appears to be a Cobbs blade. Cobbs blades are Early Archaic knives/pre forms for the same peoples who made lost lakes, dovetails etc...

The smaller point with wide drooping barbs is probably a Wade point which is Middle- late archaic if I remeber correctly.
The middle black corner notched point looks like a possible Kirk although better pics may point to other types...
The top side notch is probably a Big Sandy but still need better photos to confirm.
Interesting group of artifacts, thanks for sharing!

Big thick piece may be an adze. Other big piece might be a knife that hadn't been notched yet.
