Very nice looking pair it appears that both have some damage to the base. What county in Georgia where they found? could you please share a picture of the stem base ends? Thanks for posting, congratulations on these great finds. In my honest opinion these strongly resemble the "Elora" type. You can find more information on that type at the following link. http://www.gutenberg.org/files/39974...-h.htm#Page_46
I could be wrong but the resemblance is strong. The shoulder angle looks a slight bit different but only slight. If you are farther south in GA some of the Floirda types come to mind as well. Perhaps Johnny ( WIljo will see these and comment.
Where are You Hoss? Tam, there's a topic I started on bases. What most of Us like to see is the base finished in the 3rd pic but I think many were made like the other one too. But, that base could be broken though.
Some points look like the bottom broke off but there are still notches, stems or bases to haft. Here are a few I have found. n214920 The one below may be an actual
I moved the pictures of the stem ends over into this topic as they are pictures of the above points. Nice pictures these are probably made this way and I think they are both Elora points.
If I found those on my old north Alabama hunting grounds I would likely call them Elora. It is a middle Archaic point. The bases are usually only crudely finished at best and sometimes unfinished with the cortex from the cobble retained. I had 22 of them in my old collection. It is one of the few points I still have from that old collection. I will try to post a pic of it here for comparison. It is made from quartzite so it is not as finely made as those made from chert. Please pardon the poor picture quality. It is not a photo but an image made with a flat bed scanner.
