Fox Valley Bifurcated Base Cluster
Projectile points with a deep notch (bifurcation) on the base are among the earliest Archaic types in the eastern United States. They range in age from about 7000 to 5000 B.C. Bifurcated points are widely distributed from northern Tennessee to the lower Great Lakes and from eastern Missouri into New England. Among the more common bifurcate base types are Fox Valley Bifurcated Base, Lake Erie Bifurcate, LeCroy Bifurcate Stem, MacCorkle Stemmed, Rice Lobed, and St. Albans Side Notched.
