Abstract: A survey of the known stone Mississippian figurines, tablets, and heads found in Illinois is presented. Twenty-seven of these specimens are illustrated and described in detail. Special emphasis is given to the large bauxite figurines recently recovered during excavations at the BBB Motor site in the American Bottom, near the Cahokia site.
