  • This will be a long one.

I have held off from making my latest post for several reasons.
Firstly I have not had a great amount of success over the last week.
Secondly I feel awkward overloading this site with metal detecting finds.
This past week has produced a number of wins and losses.
For those of you who want to know, I did get out on my birthday. Last Wednesday I turned 63.
    This find was bittersweet.
The first thing I had to do was remove the deposit by mans best friend.
Yup dog turd was sitting directly over the signal. Click image for larger version

ID:	239604 The next day (Thursday) a trip with Jon to our local park only produced one keeper for me.
It was nothing more than a blank disk when found.
And required 12 hours in the tumbler to get to this point. Click image for larger version

It is a small win, due to the older aluminum having so much iron. Click image for larger version

There are 37 crushed beer cans, top left, that had to be dug out of the grass roots over the last week.
The rest were scattered in the bushes. Click image for larger version

Most of my favorite hunting spots are getting very quiet.
So I have been chasing very iffy signals lately.
Most rusty nail squeaks are muted after a couple of passes by the coil.
For those that are not, out they come just to be sure. Click image for larger version

But every now and them they pay off.
I found this on Thursday after Jon left. Click image for larger version

ID:	239616 Friday was a total loss.
Doubly compounded by Jon texting me that he had found six silver dimes.
And my only keepers for that day were a pile of shell casings. Click image for larger version

What can I say other than total frustration.
Before I even get started for the day I get a message from Colin showing me his 8 silver dimes in one hole. Click image for larger version

Further to that Jim from Duncan texts me that he is in town and wants to meet up.
So I rush through cleaning up my daughters dog droppings in the back yard.
And by the time I get to where Jim is he already has one silver dime in his pouch.
And proceeds to pocket two more while I am still sitting on zilch.
My only keeper while out with Jim was this. Click image for larger version

      Sunday was my best day.
I had just found this when Dave once again texted me his find of three more silvers.
I was taking shelter from the rain under a large cedar tree when it squeaked from the roots.

This lead bale seal was the final find on Sunday.
        Does anyone have any ideas?
There are bale seals with the crossed keys that indicate they are from Russia.
But these don't fit that bill. Click image for larger version

Bruce, don't ever hesitate to share your finds! So many interesting finds-- trash to treasures at times. Keep posting!
