I have held off from making my latest post for several reasons.
Firstly I have not had a great amount of success over the last week.
Secondly I feel awkward overloading this site with metal detecting finds.
This past week has produced a number of wins and losses.
For those of you who want to know, I did get out on my birthday. Last Wednesday I turned 63.
This find was bittersweet.
The first thing I had to do was remove the deposit by mans best friend.
Yup dog turd was sitting directly over the signal. Nonmagnetic and 50% silver puts this one in the win column. The next day (Thursday) a trip with Jon to our local park only produced one keeper for me.
It was nothing more than a blank disk when found.
And required 12 hours in the tumbler to get to this point. Esquimalt dog tax 1919
It is a small win, due to the older aluminum having so much iron.
In the loss column is the constant battle with the trash. This trash has a mixed blessing.
There are 37 crushed beer cans, top left, that had to be dug out of the grass roots over the last week.
The rest were scattered in the bushes.
Trash is bad. Cashing in on it is good. Especially since this years deposits of new coins has not been made.
