  • Some days seem to have a thyme going on.

Mondays frustration at not finding that missing seated dime carried on into Tuesday and Wednesday as it did was rain..
Thursday turned out to be a keeper day.
For a change in pace I started the day at a nearby park.
    The first target was brass.
And I think that this is my best find of the day, even better that the next one is.
Believe me when I say that it looked nowhere near this good right out of the ground.
This is what 24 hours in the tumbler looked like. Click image for larger version

ID:	241737 I then tumbled it for another 24 hours in a vinegar and water solution.
After which it got a saltwater bath for 48 hours.
I am trying to see if I can emulate the effects that saltwater has on brass found in the ocean.
This was it this morning. Click image for larger version

There is still a bit of tarnish left so it is back in the saltwater bath. Click image for larger version

The first thing that showed up was the thermos.
And the tea inside was still hot. Click image for larger version

The next keeper was a cash coin.
I think that this is the right ID for it. Click image for larger version

After which another 3 hours was wasted on the search for the missing seated dime.
If it has not already been picked up by someone,
it will be my gift to the lucky detectorist who finds it because I am done looking for it.
    Friday was clad day.
Because one half of the spendables was found on Friday. Click image for larger version

    Saturday was penny day.
I had pulled 78 pennies one at a time before a silver coin showed up.
That is not to say that other silver was not found before then though.
This is oddly big for a ladies ring at size 9 1/2 . Click image for larger version

This was really tarnished when I found it.
But after tumbling the bejesus out of it I think that it is cool.

I pulled one more penny and quit for the day.
On Sunday I manage a couple of hours out with Colin.
He found a couple of neat keepers but my coil only found trash.
Throughout the week a few oddities showed up.
The first two were surface finds.

No wonder we don't find any San Fran. mint coins, you find them all over there.

Excellent post Bruce, as usual. Always some interesting and strange stuff. I suggest that large sized ring probably belonged to an Amazon or a rather large effeminate man. I have a bunch of that Chinese funny money that I categorized when I was stationed in Japan. Haven't looked at it in years. Thanks for sharing your slow start week.

Post a picture of your "funny money" Chuck.
I don't mind a slow start is ok as long the finish is strong.

Wow wee, that is quite the haul. That tray is awesome and I really like that bracelet. It must really be exciting because it seems there is absolutely no limit to what all you find. Stuff from all over the world. Thanks for the trip, you are the super hero of the magic stick posts!
