  • 2018 southern New England Arrowheads.com Gathering of the Greats!

Hello hello everyone! We had an Awesome day today at the meet up! We had a great turn out, 30 people all together!
Im really glad everyone showed up early and stayed as long as they all did, more or less from 9:00 am-6:00pm.The amount of artifacts on display was mind blowing, I can’t imagine the combined man hours of walking that table represented! It was great seeing all that local stuff in varying materials and hearing the stories that go with them. Man I gotta step up my game! My peers have got some incredible stuff! I was honored to meet and make so many new friends in person finally, and I’m sure im as weird as you’s expected in person too, lol. It was a blast, we had the artifact showing first and mingled, then lunch around noon (the cookies were killer too btw!) then we had some talks and discussions on various topics, and we even managed to get some flintknapping in, though I’ll admit I wasn’t able to focus enough to make anything all that cool, lol.
This event was made possible by everyone, I can’t thank you all enough. Everybody played a part and pitched in, brought something and helped out. I wanna thank my local friends too who helped me immensely and a special thanks to my cousin Brian as well. And most of all I want to thank ARROWHEADS.COM for being the community of friends that we are and bringing all these great people together.
    Right on everyone !

Their actually one solid piece of wood, their called ballhead war clubs, their also know as root clubs as their made from the root ball of a small tree, dig around in the modern knapping pages and you’ll find one of my posts on them

Thanks so much for putting this together, Jay. It was great meeting everyone. My friends from in town here were happy they came. Glen called to tell me he's completely psyched to go hunting, lol. Nothing like seeing all those great finds. Does it every time.

Man, I love that group shot, and that's not even everyone, I believe there were at least 20 people at one point.

I forgot to get a photo of the net weight made of our state rock, Cumberlandite. Amazing!

Terry's Vosburg was killer, and that huge Levanna was the star of the show. Wait a sec, your table of reproductions was the star! You are one very talented guy! Perfect venue too.

That triangle was mind blowing, definitly the center attraction and an honor to be able to hold.

So this is the Cumberlandite net wieght? Only other place I've heard of it was from Scott Wolter on the history channel, it's magnetic right? Its a very interesting artifact made from a killer one of a kind material. Is this stuff common?

Not really, and it kinda blends in too, you can only find it along certain stretches of shore and inland. Yes it is magnetic though

Thanks to Jay for organizing.....inspiring and a little intimidating.......thanks for warm welcome to a new guy.....thanks Dave, Chris, Jay, Charlie, and a few I missed their names.....I am Mark from NH....will try my luck looking in NH trying to find rivers with stream inlets, gravel bars, dropped water levels in ponds and lakes, and farms with permission to walk the fields post plowing and rains....Those were the ideas shared by those today..........I will be back in spring as a son is playing lacrosse at Brown.....if anyone would want to check out a new spot on a hunch or after doing some "homework" would be happy to walk a new place in RI or Ct with anyone interested.....thanks again
