  • Arrowheads.com Store Authenticity

I am currently researching the reputation / authenticity of a local 'Dealer' near me who claims to have had a store on Arrowheads.com, but who is now leaving the business. I find some of his artifacts too good to be true. So I am wondering....have any Store owners been removed for selling fakes, say, in the last few years? Would it be possible for the owners/moderators of this site to Private Message me with an ID? A long shot, I know, but it sure would be helpful. Thank You.

As with anything buyer beware. You say yourself "too good to be true". Walk away. There are so many good items on the market that buying with little or no knowledge of the seller is a risk. It is a risk with anything. Used car, used toaster oven, used ladder. If you buy something that you have very little knowledge aboiut then it is on you. Arrowheads.com has in the past removed dealers from our stores. Just so you know we are not the autneticity police. No one can truly know from pictures alone if something is modern or fake. The reason is there are a lot of great looking modern pieces out there and there are a lot of easy ways to make them look old. Follow Jim Bennett's books on spotting fakes and Col. John Berner's as well. Col John wrote the first on spotting fakes. Jim has followed with two great books and another is due out very soon. If you do not have one or more I suggest you buy them and read them if you are going to endeavor to trade in artifacts.
