No problem, Hoss. Here's mine again... it's a MacKorkle point, an unusual find in my area (Schoharie County, NY). I haven't been able to identify the material, but I don't think it's local.

Thanks. Yeah, Onondaga Chert is very common in these parts, but this particular material has those odd, pear-shaped fossils, which I have never seen in Onondaga... the color is right, but Onondaga has either a grey/brown color and waxy look (western variety), or mottled grey/blue or grey/brown and a more granular look (eastern variety). That is not to say that your suggestion is wrong, as all of these materials are different, even within a few feet, depending on where they are layered. Maybe this particular piece is from a very fossiliferous area. I'd love to know what those fossils are!

Found on a small gravel bar that was washed away the night after I found it! Glad I listened to that little voice in my head.

Hey CreekWalker - that's one beautiful pic and to have been completed by your 84 y/o gpa, its amazing. I only hope I have enough faculties left when I'm 84 that I can do something like that... Wow

I am hesitant to finish this one up. The last time I tried to set up the poll the thread disappeared on me. We have had some recent glitches and the developers have promised an upgrade soon. I do not have a time line available. I am putting this one on hold until I can find out more from the development team. Thank you all for your patience while we work through this conundrum. LOL I never thought I would use that word in a sentence.

It has been postponed. I will breath new life back into it one of these days. Until then feel free to add your avatar. I will come up with an end date before new years.
