WOW just look what I got today. Thanks Johnny. I didn't wait for Christmas to open my gifts. I love to knap Tallahatta Quartzite: When I saw the piece on top I thought that was big until I got to the bottom of the box and found the 11.5 pound rock of Tallahatta Quartzite. That Cobden is beautiful with all those rings: I will saw it to get as many points as possible. The Buffalo River rock will be sawed too. Johnny game me a beautiful pendant with his polished Coastal Plain Chert and nice wire work. Speaking of CPC, Johnny gave me a real nice artifact point. There is a large rock of that red and blue CPC that I like so much. Lots of other CPC too including several pieces of red glassy material. Man Johnny you sure picked the best Christmas Presents for this old flintknapper. Thanks again Johnny.

I was blown away. I'm gonna make a new display case and all of these are gonna be the center pieces. From top left - Hopewell base, Stone Savage Stem of rhyolite, and Unident blade/lance. Bottom left to right - Cupp point with broken base (beautiful material) , Exhausted point of creek stained Burlington Chert, and Rice Shallow Side Notched (gorgeous lithic). I've never personally seen these lithic types but to hold them in my hand is an awesome experience. Thanks again Josh for the beautiful additions to my collection and really appreciate you providing the identifications.
Pickett/Fentress County, Tn - Any day on this side of the grass is a good day. -Chuck-

Nope Josh - Your writing was perfectly legible - I don't know where my mind was when I wrote that - I stand corrected. Thanks Josh.

So I got Chuck's Gift's Today, opened up The Box looked inside and seen there is a Frame. I pulled The Frame out and It had some Point's in It! I did see The Note but didn't read It until after taking Point's out and taking a Photo. I got The Camera out of The Car and battery was on red or I would have got more pic's of The Point's. Some very nice Point's, while reading The letter later I realized I should have waited as Chuck described The Point's and location's in The Frame.

Chuck, Thank You very much. The Frame is really cool and I really Like The Point's too.

Great Gift Deb. Tam - Now you have something else to put on display.

            • #42
Glad you like the gifts, Tam. I've tried playing the NA flute but even the smallest flute's holes are a stretch for my small hands. I do find it soothing.
The shark teeth species were identified by a shark specialist at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science here in Gloucester. Happy Ho Ho Ho!

Deb - playing the NA flute reminded me of something an oldtimer told me about playing the fiddle - "When it stop sounding like bagpipes, you're making progress."

I third that Matt. I'm always looking for a ruler for posting points and the pic of the Cheyenne War Chief goes well with my collection. Thanks much.
