        Fantastic point, Josh.

        Bevel is something else.

Were you able to confirm it's a Stillwell?

If it is, it could be very old.

You had a bucket full of amazing things that day.

This little knife is fine as any.

          Really, really nice.

May was a month for mortars.

I found 4 of them (if you count 2 nutting stones) and having never found one previously, that was somewhat remarkable.

I love my hopper mortar which is unbroken with a deep divot- a nice example.

But, I'm going to post the bowl mortar even though it's ' broke', as it's also pretty great and probably quite a bit older.

Also, the circumstances of the find made it particularly satisfying.

Creek is not giving up obsidian points but I'm still finding things. Another 'nutting stone' 20190520_183810.jpg . 20190520_183835.jpg And a pestle or something. Whatever, it's cool. 20190520_183855.jpg 20190520_184021.jpg 20190520_184013.jpg Creek finds northern California.

The piece has it's divot punched through and several old timers here in the valley tell me this is evidence that it was ritually destroyed.

I'm not sure why they say this, though it is known that mortars and other valuable possessions were sometimes broken at the death of their owner.

I'm not especially competitive which is good, as I don't expect to win this contest, but am happy to make up the numbers and show off this great artifact.

That really stinks about the ear. Man, I feel for you. I did that with a piece that wasn't so great, but knocked off a needle tip. Felt like I let the original maker down by not taking care of their point.

Rarely seen a little point as nice as that, Benji.

                Tragic that you dropped it.

I did that with a nipple tip point . I think it was a new market . Really unusual nipple tip . Put it in the Tupperware with the rest boom tip gone ahhh pain man . That point looks like it was so much larger at one time .
