Wow! February flew by fast. So fast, that I doubt anyone noticed we didn’t have a MOTM. Not to worry though, as we are bringing in spring with special recognition to a well deserving member. It’s always nice to have someone new to mention. Mark is that person this month. It’s time to thank
georgiafieldwalker, for his involvement here. Thank you Mark!
My name is Mark and I am originally from Warner Robins, Ga. but now reside outside of Albany, Ga after spending four years in Statesboro, Ga. I am a die hard University of Georgia Alumni and football fan and for six years did agricultural research and extension work as a faculty member specializing in cotton agronomy. I have now joined the private sector where I work as a cotton agronomist, doing cotton field trials in Georgia and Southern Alabama.
I had found a few artifacts as a kid and one while I was in college but I never really pursued it as a hobby until 2016 when I stumbled upon the giant Abbey that's in my profile picture. I was completely fascinated by the artifact and from that point on I have been obsessed with artifact hunting/collecting. I'm passionate about learning as much as I can about them and really appreciate the help of guys like Willjo and others who have gone out of their way to share their knowledge with a newbie like me.
The highlight of my collecting so far has been winning best personal find award at a show in 2019. It was a point that I found in the same field that I found my first one back in 2016 in Pulaski County, Ga.
Thanks for making me MOTM!
