I hear ya LM. Our society has become almost desensitized to this horror. I have wondered for a long time now just where along the line this social change has occurred and what has caused the thought process that leads to these deplorable acts of cowardice. My heart goes out to the thousands of people who's lives were forever changed by this cowardly action.

I hope you’re proved wrong because the day we shrug something like this off is the day we stop being human. 😥

Wonder why this violence was insighted... Maybe hatred towards immigrants? Wonder who has fostered that? We all have a duty to change the landscape... Starting at the TOP

Not our presidents fault. It's the kids below him that are inciting it.

Let's stay within the limits of the forum guys. Politics are forbidden. 😔

The first one I remember, when such things were rare, was the University of Texas tower shooting:

This website keeps a running tally of mass shootings in the United States:

Gun Violence Archive (GVA) is a not for profit corporation formed in 2013 to provide free online public access to accurate information about gun-related violence in the United States. GVA will collect and check for accuracy, comprehensive information about gun-related violence in the U.S. and then post and disseminate it online.

I have been to a few forums in the past day where the most recent shootings are being discussed, and, invariably, discussions develop pitting gun control advocates, and opponents of gun control. I think we all must know by now that such discussions develop after each such mass shooting. I am not the political sherrif for our forum. I'm pointing this out because I have seldom seen such discussions fail to generate heated exchanges. And I am betting that many of us will have very strong feelings, one way or another, on this subject. It's been my experience that each side has an impossible task if the goal becomes convincing people that one's position has to be the right position. It never works. I hope that does not happen here. We can simply agree that a problem exists and solutions escape us at the moment. And that we all are saddened by these mass shootings.

The El Paso shooter left a manifesto online. I have read it. He made his motives clear enough. Again, very easy to attempt to make political points based on what he said his motives were. Which will lead to political fighting, will it not? Everywhere else I have browsed or taken part in discussions of these latest mass shootings, that is exactly what has happened. I am watching just that happen, right now, on Meet the Press. And it isn't that we cannot have strong opinions, just want to post a heads up regarding how easy it is for discussions to devolve, and, in the end, the disagreements will not really be bridged. This potential for heated discussions is the reason we've been asked in the past to avoid political discussions on our forum. And there I go sounding like the political cop I claimed not to be. But, I am hoping we get the gist.

It's a moral problem fueled by politics.

I'm just dumbfounded. Why? Even that dudes manifesto didn't make sense, starting out with conservatism, and ending with what appeared to be socialistic principles. If you don't want the illegal aliens coming across the border, protest, call the president, complain to your politicians, but don't target innocent people who had nothing to do with your hatred!

It's a moral issue, stained with politics. Christian values kept our nation afloat and peaceful until we decided to take away morals. We said it was "okay" for lil' johnny to do thus and so. We cared more about feelings, than what was right. We cared more about popularity, votes and power. Now look at what we have done. We've created a self centered, unpatriotic, hateful, venomous society, full of hatred to anybody who stands in their way. We need a moral change, and God help us if we don't change soon.

Honestly. I think this should be shut down now. Some have already said too much, taking a stance. I am trying my damndest not to give my thoughts on what is happening and I'm a gun owner but I don't own a or an arsenal full of semi automatic assault weapons with kegs of ammunition just in case the militia calls me up to put our government in place.

See, I can't control myself concerning this.

Just finished texting with a buddy of mine... He is a vet dealing with leukemia. Sadly the texts turned to politics and old arguments were again sizzling in the pan. I have just now come to realize that no matter what happens people will feel the way that they do. Even though both of us have had close friends killed in front of us we cannot agree on the state of the Union. There is a duality of man that includes dark or light. Ying or yang. Mammal or reptile. Born to kill and we come in peace. I guess that has been present for eons. Conquistadors and natives. Land holders and slaves. Who knows what to do? I'm not one to quote the Bible but I've heard that a divided house will fall.
