  • Lost Point of Reference

Maybe you haven't found a point in some time, or maybe you had one fall out of your pocket. In this case I had one taken from me by the landlord. Anyhow, I hope this poem cheers you up.

    Lost Point of Reference

On a steeply sloping berm I saw her
    Resting near a brook
    There was beauty in complexion
    Symmetry to her curves

Filtered sunlight slipping through forest leaves
    Exposed her skin to me
    Filled my mind with wonder
    Stopped my heart with ease

Earth encompassed and root held fast
    Preserved her virgin beauty
    Till persistence of erosion
    Released her from the past

A sinister kiss ever present on lips
    Fashioned to pierce the heart
Yet no sinew, shaft, or feather
    Remained within her midst

The heart overflowing with joyous tune
    Caused my mouth to boast
And though I thought her love was mine
Our fate was sealed with doom

I know you might reference that! And, I hope you write Wife such lovely invocation on Valentines Day!
(P.s. silly romantic! unless you knapped yourself, donโ€™t think lost point virgin!)

With a little editing, I'm sure that I can make this work. LOL!

I did write my wife a trilogy of poems before we were married eleven years ago. She still married me, so I guess they weren't too bad.
    Working...
