Ralph thanks for posting the Hayes Points that Parallel Oblique flaking is amazing!
The Crystal Quartz is a treasure for sure. Did all of those come in a cache?

Hoss, how you doing sir ? The large "flame" Hayes and the Crystal Hayes are from the same site, the others from other sites, all in Arkansas and Texas down in the Red River ArkLaTex region. The crystal piece is a beauty. I have never seen quartz crystal flaked so well as the work on that one. That stuff has to be a real pain to work with from what I have been told by those who knap. The big piece was dubbed "The Eternal Flame" because of the coloration, really a beautiful piece that appears to be made of material from a combination of Kiamichi, Battiest, and endurated siltstones where the three formed at a terminal point between the types. It's a very interesting piece, and one of the most beautiful Hayes points I have ever seen out in direct sunlight. The flaking also, like you say, is amazing as it is on many of the larger points from the Riley Site here in Arkansas.
Thanks for the cudos. Hope you all have a great 4th.........
