        Thanks Red I found it in a hard to get to section. I have permission but it's so out of the way and hard to get to spot I hardly ever go. Waiting on a good hard rain to wash all the leaves away.

            Kaolin flint from Southern Illinois is probably my favorite from my area. The orange translucent kind is my favorite variety of it.

            Although it comes in many colors and consistencies, the stuff that looks like this is the highest grade.

              I read somewhere where if Chert is a high quality it makes a ping or chime like China . Johnny sent me the most beautiful point last year for a SS that did that and I found that white Chert knife in May that had that sound . That’s all I know about high quality besides gem type like jasper or agate .
