We all have In-situ's, but when you have the pic of the unknown of a great find, that's what its all about.

    Lets show your best In-situ.

When I first saw this boatstone I honestly didn't know what it was because I never found one before or handled one. At first I actually thought it was an odd type of nutting stone but eventually realized what it was.

Chase, it is a new thread in the In Situ section by Joshinmo. If he doesn't mind, consolidate the two.

Here is another one of my best that I just didn't think I was going to get out because it was found in December and was frozen in the dirt. I was thinking that I was going to have to mark it and come back another day and get it but I was able to eventually get it loosened up. I was hoping it would be a large Dovetail blade but it turned out to be a 5 1/2" Stanfield knife.

I expect it will be in his frame some day! That was actually the first time I had carried a camera on the hunt, because my grandson Jackson was along. It was sweet finding something nice for him to pick up! But he was just as satisfied with all of the other points he picked up that day, right after a big deluge.

This picture has always been one of several of my favorites of an “as-found” artifact find, (in situ, out of context). I wish I would have had a camera along on all of my hunts as I missed getting pics of some great moments to be enjoyed years later by viewing the recorded images.

This is a scan of a picture taken in 1976 with a 110 film camera which did not produce very good quality pics. My dad is pointing his finger at the artifact which is a little over 5 ¼” long and is made from a Kansas Flint Hills Permian chert.

I only have a few but had no idea how cool or whole this one would be. It was late summer and this little creek dried up a bit upstream revealing this. The leaf hides bottom a bit. Material has Traveled about 45 miles I have found but others have found it has traveled much further. Torn between Burlington and this Material. My Daughter and I found this one at an old Neighbor/Friends Place and shared The find with Them after walking back from Creek. This Material is really hard to really share what its like in hand. In The right Sunlight it shows its red/purple Hues so will try and show that soon. A lot of The area it comes from is still very rural yet has some park and recreational areas and its where I spent much time camping and Swimming, just a Great area that is actually The Highest point in Missouri, what I call The Ozarks. Anyway heres The Pics and A Link (bottom of last photo) to more information to this Missouri Rhyolite

Thanks Chase, Ray, Hoss, Josh and Tyson for your comments.

All of the in situs on this thread are nice.

Tyson, I like the in situ drills that both you and Chase found, both are quality artifacts.

Josh, nice in situ ...I really like the color of that one.

And a few more. In-situ are my favorite shots. It's so hard to wait to grab a camu before u pick it up. Even when u are by yourself, its like u have to snatch it off the ground right away before something happens to it.

Darin, it has been one thing about looking, when I see an artifact I know! no matter how small of it I see. It is the control to take a picture before you expose it. I heard it called bragging rights. But for me it is the understanding I have an artifact, and just what do I have? Thanks! that is cool.

Wrong photos here is the one from the veg. Garden . The other is from the field.
I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.
