  • Earliest Human Footprints in Europe

This is pretty close to where I used to live and now represents the oldest known habitation site in Britain. Wish I was still close enough to do some more beach-combing and cliff-hunting, although I visit from time to time since my mother still lives in the area. They keep pushing the date further and further back as more finds are made:

I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.

That is so cool! There's something about trace fossils--moments frozen in time. I'd like to be able to touch the impression, just amazing discovery, Roger.

800,000 years old! talking about rewriting some history. Hope they find the bones of these early Brit's too.
