  • Ancient City Bulldozed

The ancient city of Nimrud is being removed from the face of the Earth.
The destruction of the ancient city of Nimrud came after an attack on the Mosul museum just days earlier and recalls the Taliban's annihilation of large Buddha statues in Afghanistan a decade ago.

"Nimrud was the second capital of Assyria, an ancient kingdom that began in about 900 B.C., partially in present-day Iraq, and became a great regional power. The city, which was destroyed in 612 B.C., is located on the Tigris River just south of Iraq's second largest city, Mosul, which was captured by the Islamic State group in June."
Archaeologists and officials express outrage about the reported bulldozing of the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in Iraq by Islamic State (IS) militants.

I find it hard to believe that Muslims across the world can just sit and watch their religion be bastardized by groups like ISIL.  I know many Muslims and they are horrified by their actions, but the group as a whole remains silent.  Bewildering.  If you look throughout history, it seems like a common thread that when one culture is overrun by another, one of the first things they do is destroy any of the cultural aspects of the defeated culture.  It is sad to see so much history lost, especially in an area where so much originated.

Disgusting  destruction by IS terrorists. Seems that our present world lacks a leader to end this threat.
