ID:	564428 Made it to the Alan Carmen Collection in Greenwich, Cumberland county NJ again finally. It had been a few years. The curator is hired now. When I was an occasional docent 5 or 6 years ago we were volunteers. The museum is small but excellent.

I never knew caches to contain so many preforms and also tools that were completely finished. The place where it was found must have been near the "home base" where the people who made them would return after seasonal travels. Looks like they never got back home to use the fruits of their labor.

I met Alan Carman a few times before he died. He was quick to identify anything brought in by local collectors. He built the collection, mostly with personal finds but he also bought from local farmers.

Thanks for these two links. Carman must have been a very interesting person to talk to. Sometimes amateur archaeologists are as knowledgeable as the pros and contribute much more than many of them. This man was such an amateur.

There is another museum about the same size equally insane only about 10 miles from there I'm going to get there this summer again too. There's talk of a new building to combine them both. The other is the Woodruff collection in Bridgeton.

And here is the link to the other museum. I didn't realize there is a photo of me and a couple others knapping, about 5 years ago.
