  • Antique Basket & Snake Totem Carving

Two items, both have been in the family for years. Likely however bought at yard sales in the 80s.  What do you think of the authenticity and pricing of these items?

Welcome to the forum. The basket may well be Pima. I am no expert on basketry although I own a few and have sold some in the past. As far as price, that is beyond me since I have not bought and sold for several years. As far as the snake, I really don't see how it can be attributed to NA art. Not saying it is not, but without some type of provinance, it is a stretch.

I know this post is older, but the basket is definitely not Pima in origin. Check Hausa baskets from Nigeria.
