  • Question for RMartin

    Is this a Table rock? I thought it was probably a hopewell (it is very crude though) but started paying more attention to tablerocks. I know whatever it is it isn't made real well and tumbled. Most of either type blow this away.

      Josh, the pink one I would say not Table Rock. The base has been pretty beat up but you were probably close with the Hopewell Culture. The other one is closer but the base and notching aren't right for TR. Not sure what it is but I bet it is in the same time frame as TR.

        Learning time for orari.  What is "Tablerock"?  Is that the same as "tabular chert" or something completely different i need to know about?  I'm a sponge.  Soak me.  Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

            Yep, Table Rock is a small to large, late Archaic point with a pretty wide distribution  but short existence. They were named for the Table Rock Reservoir in SE Missouri. Just about every one I have seen in the Illinois/Missouri area is heat treated Burlington. Here are the only two I have found.
