Can you Identify?

Hello all, I was recently wadeing in th Llano river just north of town when I found this stone tool of some type. My brother says its a hammer stone but it looks like a war club to me. Can anyone help me out with this? The center is worn very smooth like it was bound with leather or rawhide.

My bet would be a net weight; found in the river, worn in the middle....just guessing but thats where my money lies.

Its quite a find actually; on the Corpus coast we found a total of two (they were very large conch shells that had been drilled).  Two in 20 years...anyway perhaps you can find a fish trap; the inverted V they used to channel the fish?  Some are still visable.
