  • Could these be native stone tools?

I inherited this from my uncle, they are in a old shadow box. We live in south Texas but I’m not sure where he got this small collection of stones. Can someone help me identify these artifacts?

I see a few scrapers, a knife or two and maybe a preform. Nice collection!

The big one looks like (Edwards chert?) a large knife preform. It could be unfinished for a number of reasons, but it is still an artifact.

I was thinking the center piece looked like a chipped adze. I'd like to see a pic showing the thickness. The top left piece is very resemblant of a paleo end scraper.

They look like nice knives and maybe a scraper or two. It will be difficult to date them or give them a definitive name type. You will probably just have to call them knives.

yes i think they are legit.

but after looking more closely at the pics,im going to say they are all made from pedernales flint.the top one on the left row looks like it was made a from a tab of pedernales flint. a little as we modern knappers call them.some top grade stuff

Yes, and I believe they likely represent a cache, all deposited at the same time. I believe your uncle found a cache....

Would not surprise me if they were found as a cache and that's why they got their own shadow box.

You're welcome. Don't sell them. The sentimental value is far greater than any money you would get for them. Could you post more pics of each piece individually?
