  • Hoe?

    My cousin found this in New Hampshire back in the late 1950s.
    Any information on it is welcome.

        show a side view please? and did he try to carve his initials in it or were those lines in the second picture there when he found it?

        The marks were there as long as I can remember, over a half century. Just looked at them with the loupe and the seem to be equally as patinated as the rest of the top of the axe. I'll ask him again about the circumstances of the find. Here's the side view.

          The rock seems sedimentary to me due to its layering and the thin appearance in the side view I would assume you have a hoe.

            I have to agree with Hoss, prior to the side photo I would have said axe. But as thin as it is it must have been a hoe. Different looking material, but I am not familiar with materials up that way. Neat piece though_Bill
