  • My first unbroken Atlatl point

i found this point inches away from fresh tire tracks off a dirt road . I think it is some kind of atlatl point found in Mojave county Arizona . Any information would be much appreciated thanks for looking .

Nice one! I'd love to know what it's made of, never seen one like that before.

i could be way wrong, but from what i can tell in he pics. it looks like a very low grade of florence chert, proabaly something in the "b" to "c" florence chert. the really high grade stuff would be florence "A" chert.

when mass is put farther from the center and thrown with a spear thrower it has more wobble,,and these old boys were masters of there weapons and hunting...a point to be proud of..fla.boy

The chert here is very dry and chalky I keep looking for the good stuff but it is rare . Colorado river cobbles seem to be the source for most of the flakes I have found and the river is ten miles away .

                  Really nice find.

I like the little nub base. That seems like a 'typable' feature.

I think low grade chert is a good call but I'm no expert..
