The photos are pretty small . IT is hard to give an opinion from photos especially from small photos. To me it looks like an oiled point. I could be wrong. Authentication from photos is difficult. Looks made well but also seems to have a film applied to it.

Let's hear the story I'm gonna guess you are thinking about buying it. Outside pictures are better. Shady pictures makes me think they are trying to hide something.

SurfaceHunter, not thinking about buying it. Have owned it for a few years and I’ve taken some outside pics. What ya think? Click image for larger version

Not withstanding what others (who know more than me) have said, if it is fake, it's pretty convincing.

To me , it's lack of perfection gives it credibility. The stack toward the tail in pic2 is the kind of thing a faker might remove.

Anyhow, my knowledge of Beaver Lake points is non-existant so I'm just looking in a general way.

I think it looks pretty good. At one time it wasn't so rare to find them like nowadays. Must of been a field find cause I don't see any creek stain. Plus the dirt in the cracks which is almost impossible to get rid of.

Tough call, I'm with Tom about the credibility on the lack of perfection. I have 0 knowledge of beaver lake types also. You could get a magnifying glass and look over the point to see if it has any metallic scratches from modern tools, or modern rechipping. I take it is not a personal find? I would recommend getting a magnifying glass or invest in a decent microscope to anyone that purchases any artifacts. You can also dip it in acetone and if any fake patina and oils will come off, also rechipping, modern flaking will be evident. Ancient artifacts will not change at all and it's safe for them

I wouldn't look twice at it on eBay, and the more I look at it I think toccopola is right.
