  • Carved model dugout canoe

This model canoe came with the beads I posted before. Could it be North American? It is carved from a single piece of lightweight wood and is complete. The ends look like they have been painted with bitumen(tar). As it does not have a high prow to break the waves I think it was a river or lake vessel.

I was thinking Southeast Asia into Pacific (Indonesia, PNG), but Africa could be an option as well.

Looks authentic to me. Here's a toy canoe I brought back from Peru. Made by the Bora people. The seats are held in place with bitumen. Not sure if this is any help to you though.
