Clay

Our first 2 finds on our property 3 weeks ago were in clay 1-6 inches deep. We also found a couple broken points in the creek right there as well. Any thoughts on how to go forward in that area? That clay is a beast to work through. Is there significance to a clay area? Any advice is appreciated...we are smitten. 💯

Clay in my area means hard pan . I prefer some sand but not alot

around here in FL, the clay layer holds paleo and fossils..

Creeks? Surface? Digging?

In creeks, I find lots of nice pieces right where the gravel turns to clay.

I cant remember ever finding clay on the surface.

I've never dug, but I would think clay would be hard to sift. Could be wrong

I like the grey clay I find in the creeks once I pulled a celt out of that stuff.

In this area we’re looking and digging, it’s heavy clay starting on the surface and goes deep. There’s a small spring fed creek with several runoffs.
