  • Pitkin Chert Perhaps?

I found this beautiful artifact in SW AR about mid July. I struggle with material types and always trying to learn more about lithic types. Would this piece be Pitkin Chert? From me research its what im coming up with. These “cold black” artifacts are one of my favorite colors to find. Pitkin chert? Or other thought would help alot. Thanks guys and gals

I wouldn't be surprised if a later culture fashioned that from what was left of a Paleo piece.

I was about to say that I would love to see what it looked like in its first life. It was huge. Look how flat those flakes are.

Notice how the steep edge flakes go all around the base and not just the cutting edge.

Awesome! Thanks RKDigger and everyone else. I found this probably a week ago which I believe to be the same material as well. Same general are as the one previously posted. I wish oh so bad i had an in situ of it, i poled it and muddied the water and bent down and knew it was nice as soon as i felt it.
