Just found this today near Charleston, SC hunting shark teeth. Any ideas?

Well...I just tried to scrub off some of the brown deposits with a nylon brush and some soap and exposed some of the tooth beneath the black enamel and its white.  Would a fossilized tooth be black all the way through or do I have a modern tooth?  Thanks.

Hypsodont, Yes is was a horse.
Or at least what we would refer to as a horse.
Personally I think their anatomy resembles the modern day Zebra.
Miocene in age. About the same age as the Meg teeth you guys find along the east coast.
