Found this fossil while on vacation in the Hocking Hills. We were heading down a trail to Rose Lake and it was sitting in the middle of the trail. Hocking County is in south central Ohio.

I'm not completely convinced that's a fossil but - if it is - I suspect that it's a chunk of semi-decomposed wood that's been replaced by hematite/limonite or something similar.
PS: as on your other post today, I have put a divert link in "What Did I Find?" for the duplicate post.I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.

I changed the view and I thought it might be some sort of Crinoidea but I haven't found any that fit. My kids are convinced it's some sort of early armored fish or amphibian. I know The area we were at has produced some early reptile fossils but I highly doubt it is one of those.1 PhotoLast edited by Gemcity; 07-16-2016, 07:11 PM.
