  • the rock that makes you say what the heck is that!

just about every time i hit the creek i bring home something thats just strange. yesterday i was really hoping to find a 6 inch cumberland or a nice clovis or a super fossil but then this oddity just stood out in the matrix of river gravel.

Oh boy...alotta jokes with that one but being there are ladies present I will refrain. It sure is a strange find though...

We know what effigy that is but I will refrain as well .

Well, if it's an effigy it would certainly not attract my attention. [snicker]. As a rock, yeah, maybe.

Phallic effigies are fairly common where pestles are concerned. In this photo, from a display at the Robbins Museum in Ma., 3rd pestle from top is one such example. BTW, the top 2 here are nice snake effigy pestles, including mouth and eyes. Maybe the item in this thread is a tie on pendant of sorts. Does not have to be an effigy per se. I've seen some like that, almost like a miniature plummet.....

Reminds me of Eddie Murphy delirious. On the count of three, everybody whip out your pestles and scream Ahhhhh! Lol.

That title says it all, head scratcher!!!
It is certainly too small to be a "------" scratcher.

It appears as if most of us are of the same opinion.
It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

i don't think its a fossil , it looks more like a eroded clay stone core. but it is hollow with a little hole on the (bigger end)
