My aunt gave this to me years ago and I have always wondered what type of tooth it may have been. Any help or ideas are greatly appreciated.

Wow that is a big tooth. It could be a bison tooth. I am no expert on fossil ID though. someone will chime in and correct me if I am wrong. We have some really good Fossil folks on this forum. I know most if not all fossilized teeth are blackened but this tooth appears to have been polished or coated, possibly for cleaning and presentation. It's almost too much of a shine to it. That said, I'd agree with Hoss on the possible ident. Let's see what our experts have to say.Pickett/Fentress County, Tn - Any day on this side of the grass is a good day. -Chuck-
