    Hello from south central Texas,
    Any ideas as to what this might be? (If anything) It’s very rough and sticky to the touch.
    Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Need to see flat side. I think it is a vary ancient fossil shell..

            It is a gastropod.
            Yes it is fossilized most likely lower cretaceous considering central Texas.
            Gastropod is a "Snail"
            Highly eroded, tumbling will eradicate external shell and make narrowing down species near impossible.

            It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
            It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

                Yeah, going with gastropod if its central Texas. I'm in Austin and see similar in every river bed.
