  • What kind of fossil is this?

    Found this in a small dry bed creek in the Ozark foothills of Ripley County Missouri. What body of water would have existed in this area, allowing for sea life?

    Looks like a brachiopod. Not familiar with the geological formations, or the age of those formations, in Arkansas. Almost surly Paleozoic in age, can say that much.

      Looks like Missouri was entirely dry land 90 million years ago, which was in the Mesozoic Era. So, the marine fossil could not date from 90 million. I think it’s most likely Paleozoic Era….
