NC rhyolite?

Are these all different shades of rhyolite? All were found in coastal plain/ piedmont NC. Am used to finding quartz, quartzite and old bleached out beatup rhyolite!Maybe these are just fresher cuts of rhyolite with less aging and weathering? I hear people talk about chert, but I dunno! Any ways thanks for having a look at what I would consider some of my more exotic material! ha :laugh:

The higher the silica content the less evident is the patination.
Here is a pic of points from the same time period found on the same site. Notice the difference in patination.

Bloody Fourth, the gray pices are Rhyolite and the green ones are Silicified Siltstone (a Sedimentry rock which is not Rhyolite).
Green Silicified Siltstone apparently was an excellent point making material that was used by early and later N.C. Indians. I say that because of the well made N.C. points I have seen that were made from it.

Very nice forms Hoss!  I like that flow-banded rhyolite.  I sure do miss the ones that I sold.
