  • any help on this material would be appreciated

This is one of two pieces of this material that was recovered from a recent dig in West TN. The other piece was the tip of a broken drill. This flake was much larger. Has anyone seen this material before? I have not been able to identify it but my guess is that it is from a pretty small area. I would like to find out where it came from to help put a mental map together of the local trade patterns that were going on in the area.

I cant help you out on location source, it is some type of conglomerate chert/quartzite. I have seen this type of material from other parts of the country, and imagine that it might be part of a formation of a purer material, and that would explain why there is relatively little of it found.
Here is some of a lesser degree of quartzite. Found in North central Colorado. Excuse the other lithic's its the only pic I have with me.

Look to the ground for it holds the past!
