Could I just point out that chalcedony can be almost any colour, but the green variety found in North America is in fact more correctly known as “chrysoprase”. As I mentioned earlier, there are three reported localities which are close to Tennessee/Alabama in the extreme west of North Carolina: Goldsmith Mine, Democrat, Buncombe County; Bailey Fork Placer, South Mountain District, Burke County; and Rose Creek Mine, Franklin, Ellijay District, Cowee Valley, Macon County.
