  • Stone-type id?

    Can anyone Id these stones/flint/chert/other? Could the dark one be knife river flint? Thank you!!

    Hey Parsifal - Welcome Aboard. I'm not a geologist or a rockhound but that first pic looks like limerock that we have all over the place here on the mountain. Not sure the other one is chert. Looks more like river rock. I'm sure there's someone on here that will be a lot more help though - Let's wait and see.

      I agree with Chuck the first one looks like Limestone that second one could be chert but hard to say as it is so smooth. It does not appear to be worked it looks more like a river tumbled smooth rock to me.
