    How about this one? Jasper?

Parsifal - It might help our members if they knew where you were finding all this stuff. For example - I was gonna ask if that one you just posted scratches easily and I was gonna suggest soapstone. But soapstone is not found through out the U.S.. Just something for you to think about.

I do not think it is Jasper. Please tell us what part of the country you are finding your specimens .

I found them down by the river of course! 😉

I live in northeast Illinois in a flint/chert-poor area. The river valley and streams I visit are Very sandy, the flint/chert cobbles that are found here are mostly glacial scatter. Local native Americans often used ‘lower quality’ raw material out of necessity...at least certain early groups.

Could that rock be hematite? Or is serpantime most likely?

          and thanks for your help!!

No that is not Hematite I doubt it is serpentine too. serpentine is a softer material. I do not see any sources for serpentine in your area. https://www.netl.doe.gov/publication...arb/kramer.pdf

Is it wet in the picture? Probably granite in my honest opinion.

So these pics are when totally dry. One side seems darker green and more crystalline. The other is lighter green but has those red inclusions.
                ???
