  • Is this rhyolite?

    This material seems like what they used a lot of in my area, a l'il South of the Uwharries and Morrow Mtn. in the Piedmont of NC.
    What reading I found on a coupla searches seemed to point t'wards rhyolite. It's mostly kinda blue to very dark blue/black with whitish specs innit.
    Whatchyathink? I could prolly round up some better pics if needed. Thanks.. d:^)

      I would think rhyolite also, That was what was mainly used in your area.

        Yup that’s ryolite. You can see some flow banding in the broken point. It’s all over the place down your way. Most of it is low quality and yellow in color. The high quality stuff the Indians liked best stays dark. I have a few points that are both. Here’s a picture.
