Hi, all. I have two more pieces from central Connecticut that I'd like examined by your collective wisdom. I picked both of these up in the same field within the past two weeks and have never found lithics like them. Can anyone shed light on what these are made of? Thanks!

Hey poquonock.....the darker one might be argillite or argillicious slate or shale..looks kinda shelfy....the lighter one maybe some kinda rhyolite ...just a guess ..cool findsSW Connecticut

Thanks, red. Those are some great suggestions. I have read about argillaceous slate in a local book, but unfortunately the pictures there were not of good quality. I bet you're right though. As for the lighter one, rhyolite crossed my mind, but this thing is as rough as sand paper. I don't have enough experience to know if rhyolite weathers in this manner, or what. Thanks, again!
