  • Odd Rhyolite from Central Mass.

    Decades ago I found the base of a large Brewerton Eared Triangle in Central Massachusetts . It is made of the strangest material. I believe it is a type of coarse Rhyolite. I've never seen this material before or since.

    Cool piece. No Expert, but I'd bet that crystal fragmentation throughout, happened during its metamorphic phase, as opposed to its original flow. What do you think?

      It’s a rhyolite breccia. Meaning it resulted from a violent volcanic explosion.
